Career Overview
Dr. Rachel Aron spent over 25 years as a senior British diplomat with experience of top level policy-making and corporate leadership in Whitehall and abroad, including as British Ambassdor to Belgium (2007-10). She is a highly qualified and experienced Executive Coach accredited to Ashridge Business School and works with ADRg Ambassadors on coaching assignments for senior executives in the private sector.
She first trained as a coach with the Foreign and Commonwealth Office as part of its internal coaching programme. She continues to coach senior members of the FCO on developing skills and competences, improving performance, resolving problems and maximising potential. Her coaching is a practical goals-focussed form of personal one-on-one learning for busy executives.
As British Ambassador to Belgium, Rachel helped develop British business activity in the Belgian market, including actively supporting major international companies. She was instrumental in convincing Whitehall to work more closely with the Belgian authorities to counter the terrorist threat to the UK from groups in Belgium and pioneered innovative ways of working between British Embassies in Brussels, The Hague and Luxembourg.
Earlier diplomatic assignments include political postings in New York where she was the UK Representative on all UN Security Council Sanctions Committees and Brazil where she was Head of Chancery. She was also FCO Chair of the Civil Service Selection Board and a long-serving assessor at FCO Assessment and Development Centres for promotion to the Senior Management Structure of the FCO.
She is an accredited Mediator through ADR Group, a sister company to ADRg Ambassadors.
